Tell us a little about yourself..

My name is Alexander Gruezo. I am an NYC personal trainer and co-owner of No B.S. Fitness Solutions LLC. I was born and raised in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan. I have an M.S. in Exercise Science in Health Promotion with a concentration in Performance Enhancement and Injury Prevention. My certifications include but are not limited to NSCA-CSCS, NASM-PES, USAW Club Coach, KBC Senior Instructor, and Stretch Zone Pro-Flexibility Coach. I am also an instructor in Filipino Martial Arts under the Acosta Fighting Systems International/ Kuntaw Kali Kruzada/ Kruzada Eskrima system. I am also part-time faculty at the American Academy of Personal Training (i.e. I’m your trainer’s trainer).

Where do you train?

I currently train at Equinox Fitness Club’s Flagship Location on Greenwich Avenue as a Tier 3 fitness coach.  As Director of Fitness Services and Education for No B.S. Fitness Solutions LLC, I can also train at your home, at private personal training studios, or in parks in the New York City area. I’ve trained clients in the Upper West Side, Upper East Side, Inwood, West Village, Battery Park, and Soho amongst other places.

What is your approach to fitness?

Honestly, I don’t have a single approach to fitness. To me, fitness is not a 30 day thing, a 12-week thing, or a 1-year thing. It’s an everyday thing. Fitness is a lifestyle. Once you understand that you’ll find that being able to reach your fitness goals is not just attainable, it’s guaranteed! You don’t feel as guilty when you have an off day with your nutrition nor do you feel bad when you aren’t able to follow your fitness program for a week. If you make fitness a lifestyle, you find that these off days and missed workouts are very inconsequential when you look at the bigger picture.

Fitness is all about consistency. So if you fall off the wagon for 1 week and train 5 weeks and you had a 6-week goal, sure you may have just screwed up your program. But if you fall off the wagon for 1 week and train 25 weeks and instead you have a 6-month goal, it’s pretty safe to say you are still going to hit your goals. I would even venture to say that you would barely even put a dent in your results if you missed 1 week out of 26. Do you see the picture now?

What kind of programs do you use as an NYC personal trainer when you train your clients and what is your take on all these programs that we see in books, stores, television, etc.?

I don’t really stick to one specific program. I use what works. I’ll assess my client, ask them about their fitness goals, nutritional habits, and lifestyle habits and from there I design a program that not only works to achieve their results but also works with their schedule and their lives. Let’s face it, half the programs we see out their great, but not many are practical. Whether it is due to time, lack of equipment, lack of space, etc. most of these programs are just too general.

No bones about it, I find a way to make your goals a reality, period. If you have a concern, I’ll address it. Just check out some of my clients’ success stories. As the No B.S. Fitness Solutions motto states, “No Excuses, No Magic Pills, Only Results!”
